Hot Chip - Bath Full of Ecstasy (Official Video), 2019, Production by Safe Crackers / Somesuch, Directed by Oliver Payne. (5 minutes)

We’d also like to mention a coincidental crossover between Arcangel and Payne’s creative practices, as both artists founded clothing/merch lines for enjoyment of their favorite activities:

Arcangel Surfware, 2014–ongoing, is a "non-aspirational lifestyle brand" producing a range of practical items for cozy web surfing. It has since expanded to include publications and exists in parallel with Arcangel’s art making which relies (both in spirit and practice) on the freedom of the internet. The concept has manifested in temporary "flagship" locations in both Stavanger, Norway (where Arcangel lives and works as of 2025) and Los Angeles.

Chill Out Relaxing Clothes, 2014–2020, began in conjunction with a set of performances titled CHILL OUT (one of which was held at the Whitney in 2018) that invited participants to unplug and listen for 44 straight minutes to the eponymous ambient house album by The KLF.

S M I L E R S is grateful to all three of our favorite digital natives for their truly inspired and collaborative content. (A shoutout to Theresa Duncan’s blog: The Wit of the Staircase, no doubt best surfed in your chillest netgear!).
